View Full Version : New 2 salt my first 55 gal

It has been set up since Jan 20, 06 I am still waiting on some good lights but here is what I have so far. My fuge and sump was a big PIA but I got it working and going strong.
The last pic is how my sump fuge is set up

great start for a newbie - heck just plain good setup period. keep us updated w/lots of pics.

always fun to watch a tank grow up!

Great start you have! The tank looks good. Have you ever kept freshwater? Do you have any additional specs for your tank? BTW, nice background :roll .

Yes I have done FW since I was 8 or so I curently have 4 FW tanks
125 gal central and south american cichlid
44 gal Madagascar Paratilapia Bleekeri (sm spot polleni)
29 gal Malawi cichlid
and one salt.
In my 55 I have close to 75lbs of LR with 5lbs in the fuge
There is like 20lbs of LS and 30lbs of reg argonite and 10lbs of LS in the fuge
I also have a big handful of Calurpa in the fuge which I am fixen to pull out and put some Cheatomorph in that ram puppy is sending to me.
I am useing a Catalina Aquarium skimmer and CA 1800 pump
which I am fixen to change for a aquaC urchin pro.
I still have the hood lighting which I am going to upgrade just not sure to what.

Thank on the background lol its the only thing I had and I did not want to look at the wires lol I am planning on going wil a solid blue background

Sounds like you are no stranger to "fish tanks." :) As far as your lights go, I know that there are a couple of members here that can offer discounts on lighting. You may have to be a "Charter Member" before you can recieve those discounts. I am sure that if you posted a question you would get plenty of responses. You left your location blank, are you in the San Antonio or Austion area?

This looks like a pretty nice start. Heck, I would love to have my tank set up like this. I am still fuge less. Great job!
