it is always a good time to get a new(BIGGER) tank. lol I had a tank when I was youger that was 10 years old. I gave it to my old school when I moved to College Station and I think they are still using it.

Then it is time to get a new one. If you are worried about it then the time is now.

It is time to get a new tank when...

1. You have an empty spot on solid furniture
2. You see a new tank you like
3. You find a tank whose capacity is also your lucky number
4. You get a specimen that needs to be isolated
5. You need a(another) hospital tank
6. You need a back up tank
7. You need a propogation tank
8. 'cause Gary recommended it and you have to do what he says
9. You want to see what that starfire glass is like
10. You want to compare starfire to acrylic
11. You are that weight lifting kid on that online video
12. You want a pet snake/iguana so you need your current tank to hold it so you obviously need a new one for your fish.
13. You also want to get a freshwater tank
14. You want a freshwater tank for just plants
15. You need a new tank for genetic experiments
16. You want to check out that plenum system TK is talking about
17. You have a plenum system and you want to try out barebottom
18. You want a nanotank.

If you think the silicon is growing weaker you can always drain it, cut off the old sealant, and reapply it and when it cures put everything back in, of course...19. You need another temporary tank while redoing seals.

well i fall in the lines of 11. how much are new 55g tanks? just an avarage price. as soon as i move to my new place i plan on doing this the right way. i think ive learned enough from yall to start buying what i need and moving along to corals and more exotic fish then damsels. oh and i finaly have a job that can support my habbit, so there will be spending, oh yes there will be spending.
