Does it just burn out or?

I had a 250W SE 20K XM 'blow up' today. Been running for a year give or take a little and suddenly today the center (element?) exploded and blew a hole though the outer bulb (and sent busted glass flying into the tank). :(

Is this 'normal'? :unsure

Your bulb just wanted to go out with a bang! :)

Were you able to retrieve the glass from the tank?

Not yet. What I did find (still inside the bulb) was mostly glass dust. There are two 1/4" holes blown through the bulb though, so I may still find some pieces that are big enough to remove.

Sounds like the fragments are minimal. Just be careful not to get cut, especially in marine water, lol.
