I have to say that I am a little confused after reading a bit on RC. I ahve always acclimated by dripping a little bit of water inside a bucket for about 1.5-2 hours. After reading a thread on RC I am a little confused. For those of you that read on the sps keepers forum, you probably know who JBNY(Joe) is. JBNY takes out the corals out of the bag and lets them sit out of the water for ten minutes. He then glues them to a rock and places them inside the tank. A lot of other reefers dont acclimate at all, they just throw them inside the tank straight from the bag. A lot dont even disinfect, its no wonder a lot of them spend a lot of time and money curing flatworms and red bugs. JBNY does put his corals in QT first after acclimation, but that is a unique way of acclimating. I had never heard about it before. If you guys want to follow the thread, here it is.

Thats good to know, I have always used the dripping method. It takes a long time. I think I am trying Brian's way, nuch simpler. What do you guys do to disinfect? Any of you soak your corals in interceptor or any other medication for red bugs? What about for flatworms?

A soak in interceptor wouldnt do anything..you need to let them sit for hours..

Can you make a bomb of interceptor..iodine..flatworm exit and some dip???

I meant soaking it for six hours or so. Better to be safe than sorry. I once got some frags from a very reputable reefer, he gave me the bugs. I have never treated for flatworms though, what do you guys suggest?

Cool. THanks. I am trying to make it on Sunday to the meeting to see that famous tank of yours. Once you get the name of that medication let me know.

the dip is called tropic marine pro coral cure, it gets rid of flat worms but not the eggs.

Well I just read the new posts on the flatworms and they are using 4 treatments of flatworm exit at 4X the dose, doing a treatment a week. I'm still reading(10 pages) but I will let you know when I finish.
supposedly its working and they aren't having any of the flatworms coming back
Brian,
You have F.W.'S?

Clint, I havent seen Brian's tank, only on pictures, but they say pics dont do it justice. I might see it this weekend for the meeting. Brian, I got your PM, thanks man. If for some reason I dont go this weekend, I am going over there in March for a training.
