I recently noticed that a part of my corcea's blue/purple color has changed to a fleshy color. Other than that it looks awesome and is fully opened? What might cause that? Any ideas on what it could be?

Sounds like clam bleaching to me... what type of lighting do you have it under?

It might have expelled some of its zooxanthellae. It could be stressed or it could be that there is not enough lighting. Same question as the dude, what lighting do you have it under?

I have VHO's, 4X72's I think that is 640 watts of light. The clam doesn't appeared to be stressed, just a color change on a small section. I will try to get a pic posted.

Is there anything like detritous or sand sitting on the mantle? I had that happen on one of my crocea and it bleached in little spots where I blew the stuff off.

Not the best pic but you can see on the upper right side the color discoloration.

It looks more like the color was rubbed off (if that were possible) leaving only a fleshy color.

anything nipping at them? I noticed my other crocea and my squamosa looked like that from being picked on by an angel and a tang.

I don't have any good advise, just that one of my croceas did the same thing (faded color). It is way low in the tank so I know it wasn't too much light. I didn't do anything different, just normal maintenace & feeding, and after two months or so it went back to normal.
