I hope this thread is okay, I know there are some sponsers that would probably like to get plugged and I don't want to bad mouth anyone. I'm just wondering what everyone's favorite SA area LFS is. I've been to Texas Tropical, Alamo Aquatics, Wolf Reef, and Fin-Addicts. Of the four I really like Fin-Addicts so far. However, I've only been in the hobby for a little over a month, so I'm just curious if there's a consensus pick I should be sticking with. It's hard to know who to trust.

Not unless it's "made" to do so....and there's no reason to do so. ;)

SAtiger...my opinion - there are a great group of LFS's here and around San Antonio. They have their own strengths and weaknesses...all depending on what you're looking for. Why limit yourself? It's called variety...ALL have something to offer. I've gone with reasons such as closeness...food...new shipment....sale/specials....rock....SPS...LPS...road trip! Most LFS here in the San Antonio area are very supportive of MAAST. :)

Why would it get locked, unless this gets into bashing, which I am sure it will not!

SAtiger - all of them have their strengths, IMO. But it also comes down to convenience. Seems I am always "running" to get a bucket of salt and pick up a few other items too.

Alamo - Gets most of my "Run Out and get X" business, plus the wife likes to go there to look at other critters & stuff
Texas T - Has great prices on dry goods, I've been shopping there for many years, so I like the place & staff there too.
Fin-Addict - Corals, Corals, Corls ... need I say more!
Aquatic Warehouse - Don't get by there as often as I would like, but they have a great variety of fish, LPS, Softies, and SPS than most
CB Pets (out 281) - If you haven't tried them yet, take a little weekend drive - very knowlegable owners, healthy fish, great corals.
And there are a few new ones poping up here & there

Hope I didn't leave any out :unsure Check them all out!

Ok, ill enjoy it while it lasts..

Satiger, Fin-Addict has an amazing selection of corals (when they dont get raided by the MAAStards..)

Texas Tropicals gets a huge selection of fish.

Aquatic Warehouse gets both fish and VERY nice corals

CB pets has amazing customer service and great prices (VERY nice corals too, and the healthiest fish you'll find)..

Alamo has a nice selection of fish.

But i buy my dry goods at Fintique, LOL

I like them all. Whenever I'm running around town, I'll stop by any one of them to see if one has something I may want. I don't think that I could say any particular store is just plain better than any other. They all have their strengths. We're lucky that the SA area has so much for this hobby.

I will give my money to whom every has what I want at a good price. My wife and I use wolf reef a lot because he is close and he has never once given us wrong information. We have been going since the very begining. Besides he gives me a MAAST discount.

Thanks for the responses. So where is this Aquatic Warehouse of which some of you speak? I've never heard of it until now. I haven't been thrilled w/ Alamo Aquatics, though I have bought stuff there. I like Texas Tropical, but they seem to be a bit more expensive. I got a great deal at Fin-Addicts and Filipe was really cool. I wish it were closer :( Fillipe did tell me he was getting a store at Culebra though. That would be much easier for me. Wolf Reef seemed pretty cool too, but it's small so I only go there when I see they get shipments in. Anyway, I think I'll check out the Aquatic Warehouse. Sounds promising.

Nevermind, I just found Aquatic Warehouse in the sponsers section. It's not too far, so I'll have to check it out.

Louis is the man at Aquatic Warehouse. Nothing but praise for the guy. Lots of great stuff and advice. If he doesn't have it then he'll get it for you.

I'm always stoppping in at Alamo just to see what's new. Don't really like how they've been playing the 25% off game lately, but business is business I guess.

I stop in to see Louis whenever I can, too. Talk about customer service! I had a question one time when I was there, but Louis wasn't in. His cousin (who works there, too) called him on the phone to ask him for me. She really wasn't getting the question out right, so she gave the phone to me. Louis knew who I was because he recognized my voice! I was very impressed because I am by no means one of his best customers. Anyway, he always has great advice and is just very interesting to talk to. Definately stop in to see Louis.

When shopping for corals...

During the MAAST meetings Fin-Addict has a lot of small frags for us nano guys (and gals). Their prices are awsome too!

Aquaticwarehouse Has some larger pieces and quite a selection. Louis (the owner) is a great guy and he will "educate" you if you have any questions, lol!

When I bought my fishes...

I purchased my fish from Petland (Basse and San Pedro). They have many fish to choose from and very low prices. BUT as a warning, many of their fish have a "sickly" quality about them so be aware of what you are purchasing.

Hope this helps. :)
