How many mangroves should I plant in my 55 gal sump? I have 135 gal tank. I checked a web site and it said about 1 for every 10 to 15 gal. I have a euro-reef skimmer so that is doing s good job, but I would like to get my nitrate down.

I dont think there really is a gallon to mangrove ratio...
I would say as many as you want/will fit. How high are your nitrates? Are you running carbon? I would also check in to putting some chaeto in your sump if you havent yet.

From everything I have read, mangroves do not deplete nutrients fast enough to make a difference so I would guess that you can keep as many as you have room for.

yeah, just like everything else, I have heard mixed reviews on these. Some swear by them, some say they dont do anything....
They cant hurt and arent that expensive, so I would go for it.

I would just use chaeto, make sure you have a good light and its growing = using nutrieants
Maybe do more frequent water changes too.

I hear chaeto works a little bit better/faster than mangroves. But personally I would use both :) A sump full of mangroves would look cool too!
