As soon as my pump and plumbing arrives I am going to be moving my fish rocks and inverts to a 75 gallon tank (current tank will become the fuge/sump). My new tank will have metal halides for the lighting. The main tank will be barebottom with my 55 gallon tank retaining the plenum system and it will become a fuge/sump.

My question is, my current corals are some brown stiped mushrooms, blue mushrooms, green stars, non-pulsing xenia (thinking about putting in fuge), pink riccordia, meat coral, green zoos, and blue zoos. Will any be adversely affected by metal halides or will they all benefit?

Also are blue mushrooms evil? They reporduce really fast and have started flying off the rock they are on and growing on my macro algae (halimeda plant). Also my halimeda touched two of my palythoa polyps and they melted. Is halimeda also evil?

Green stars and meat should love your metal halide. Zoo's should be okay, but you will need to acclimate slowly. Some mushrooms love a lot of light and others hate it. Trial and error on those. Good luck.

i think you'll want to shade the blue shrooms a bit, they tend to wash out under powerfull lighting IME

The halimeda was probably just abrasive against the palys. Halimeda is a calcareous algae and is probably abrasive in the current against the paly.
