I've never seen anything like this before. It came up out of nowhere. He acts fine, still eating very aggressively and not scratching or anything. These spots just came up within the last 3 or 4 hours. I'm thinking he probably got stung by a coral or anemone. He does hang out really close to my clown and anemone so I wouldn't be surprised if it got him. What do you guys think?

Never seen taht before. Do you have a quarantine tank? If so I would move her in there to be on the safe side.

That doesn't look good.....
The few times I have read about something that looked like that it was due to bad bacteria
The one other fish I've seen that looked like that got worse and worse until it was swimming around with what looked like a huge hole in its side and then it died.
check this out.....

Any other Tangs or large fish in the tank? Looks like a battle wound that is maybe a little infected. If the fish is healthy it has a good chance of fighting it off. Moving to a QT is usually very tough on the fish due to the stress of catching it. If it gets worse in 24 hrs, I might consider the QT tank, ONLY if Richard can offer a treatment best provided in QT.
Feed smaller amounts more often. If his appetite falls off, that's a good indication it is getting worse.
I had a Rabbit fish that "Lost" a fight with my clown Tang. Had a 1" long cut along its body that was bleeding. It cleared up in about a week and he is a happy fish now ... and he gives the clown Tang a little more "space" now :lol

thanks for the replys, I really don't know what it is. It looks better already. The black around the spot is gone and looks like just some white scuff marks. I doubt it was him fighting with other fish. I only have 3 fish in the tank and none of them have ever sown any type of aggression at all. I have the Naso, a Regal Tang, and a GSM Clown. The Naso is by far the largest fish and he's only about 5 inches. The Regal is smaller than the clown. All of them are pretty chill fish. I do have a Q tank up and running, but I don't think he bad enough to fight with moving at this point. He's a healthy fish and I believe he will be ok, I'll update as I see changes.
Thanks

My nassau tang got them a couple of times, and they went away in a couple of days. My guess was that they were scratches from running into the live rock. As long as the fish looks healthy and swimming and eating I think it should be fine. Unless it looks like its starting to spread, then it migh be something different.

well the spots are almost completely gone today. You really have to look hard to see anything on him. I don't know what it is, but he still acts fine and it's going away. Thanks for the replys.
