Hello everyone. New to the site, but I can see I need it.We have a 20 gal w/ 8lbs L/R and L/S and been running gook. Just purchased a 30 gal but the last owners did not have it running for about a year. The bad part is the 30 plus lbs. of "live rock" was placed in a box. Can I bring this back to life and how. Thanks for all help in advance.

Welcome to MAAST!
The LR that you speak of is probably biologically dead. That doesn't matter though! You will have to cycle this new LR and wait for your nutrients to drop. Once the LR is cycled you can "seed" it with some biologically active LR or if your LS is active then the rock can be seeded that way.
There is much reading for you to do! :)
Go here www.webwetmedia.com ! Here you will recieve more information than you bargained for. If someone has ever asked a question, they have answered it!
Good Luck!

Thanks Christopher for the help. I agree with your advice on needing to do more reading, however there is so much. You gave us a direction to go toward. Thanks again and I'm sure I'll be talking to you more.
Thanks RT & DT

Welcome to MAAST and cbianco gave you great advice on this. I had some old rock a guy gave me one time and it seeded over great from the other rock I put in and all the corals that carry stuff in also that will seed rock.
