Well, we got the tank in today, so i thought id post a couple of shots of what im doing. everything from my 125 will be going into the 240. i also made a 7' long sump/fuge that will fit under the tank (thanks for the help pete). when finished, it will be the divider between our living room and dining room.

very nice...I see that you got your tank from glasscages. Heavy sucker isn't it?

BTW maybe I missed something, but how are you going to get that sump underneath the tank?

Pretty cool. Are you going to use pendants for lights or will there be a canopy installed on top?

hobogato
Sun, 16th Oct 2005, 08:25 PM
on the living room side, a flat door with decorative molding to match the window molding. on the dining rm side, where the cabinet is, a canopy to match that covers the opening. all the lights i have are retro kits, so i will be building a 2X4 frame over the tank for those.

Hey Hobo,
Are you raising the dreaded stringed forest behind your couch? I see the tips of them in the pic. I think they are too close to the tank.........Nice looking tank by the way. If I only had the room and green frags to do it too. 8)

What are those marks on the lower right door panel :lol

yes, as steve already knows, my 2.5 yr old son decided to help me measure and mark with a marker. a little sandpaper and its nothing more than another funny story to tell him when he gets older.

Sat, 22nd Oct 2005, 08:16 AM
You assume that you will let him get older. :lol That is very pretty Ace. It was nice talking with again the other night. Good luck with the tank. Sorry I did not have more sand for ya.

hobogato
Sat, 22nd Oct 2005, 06:09 PM
well, i got the first 110 lbs of sand wrinsed and in the fuge, and the first 60 gallons of water mixed and in the sump too. only 230 lbs more sand to wrinse and 120 gallons more of water to mix. i never thought i would have to wait long for water with a 100 gpd RO/DI. i guess after this, barring something drastic, i wont.

Looks amazing. I just have one question. WHen you do a waterchange, how many gallons do you usually change? It would probably take me a whole day, but you probably have an RO unit right?

Today I learned that Rabbitfish shouldn't be caught by hand. Thanks, Ace! :lol

hobogato
Wed, 26th Oct 2005, 11:50 PM
30 gallons would be about a 15% water change. yes, i do have an RO/DI filter that i just got on the group order from purelyh2o.

It's fine, only stung for a couple hours. I don't think he got me very well. The bigger sting was from the salt water bug. I gotta get a reef tank now! :D

hobogato
Fri, 28th Oct 2005, 07:33 PM
lucky side benefit of the tall cabinet, the tank, with no fans at night, 2 most of the day and 3 for the high light cycle is staying between 77 and 78.5 degrees. i had to run two fans all night and four for most of the day on the 125 to keep it from hitting 82 degrees. and, our inside the house temp is set 2 degrees higher now than when we had the 125. :)

took a few new pics today, so im just gonna post em in no particular order

one show the amount of skimmate i got in 4 days (still skimming on the wet side, but getting dark liquid.

the tank is having a minor cyano problem, but with frequent water changes and cleaning, its not bad. hopefully it will only last a little while longer.

hobogato

speaking of flow, i just spent 50 bucks and 30 minutes changing the outlets of my return lines to locline so i could direct it more. the skimmer is finally starting to slow down a bit, so i think things are really settling in.

thanks for the compliment flo.
