If you want to have "mood lighting" in your tank overnight, it would probably be best to go the route of a moonlight set up rather than leaving your actinic lights on. Fish gotta "sleep" too, and the actinic would be too bright IMO. We have a PFO moonlight on our tank, and it is just awesome looking at night! Just bright enough to see the crabs, shrimp and other nocturnal critters come out and forage, but not so bright as to keep the fish from getting their rest. ;) If you don't want to do the moonlight, then I would just suggest shutting the actinic lights and the PCs off at night.

I have to agree with CD, it's probably best to give them a break. They are going to get some light from the room probably also.

Oh lordy...you guys are probably gonna laugh (I can just hear Steve R. now...LOL) but I turn on a night-light next to my 20G clown tank so the little guys won't get skeert in the dark (I don't have a moonlight for them yet) :innocent :ph34r :lol

hammondegge,
Keep us updated on how those work out. I
m wondering if it would be to much for a 36x18x24 tank.
Thanks

page down further, the 3 led sets is what i am considering. i think 2 would be fine for 3' tanks. i'll let you know when i set it up.

I have two 13watt antinic bulbs that stay on overnight. these are about 12" off the water on a 180. To me its not too much light. I'll take a night time pic tomorrow night.

those look like some cool little moonlights, and not a bad price either. i'm eager to see how those look on your tank
