View Full Version : My 55 Gallon

I FINALLY got it setup and running. Actually its been like a week and today was the first day I decided to clean up all the wires and whatnot... :blink The tank is a 55 gallon with a 30 gallon sump/fuge. The stand is not complete yet... It just needs the skirting put on along with the doors. No leaks and only took two trips to Home Depot to get parts! :skeezy
The tank is kinda bare, just need to SLOWY buy stuff to put in it but I like it so far. Easier setup to maintain than my last one. :wacko
I would like to say thanks to Alex (if he ever gets back online), Texas Todd for the 55 gallon tank, Louis for the the hook up on the mag pump and overflow box, GreenMako and Captexas for the awesome live sand, and Smellybrad for the cool Gold Stripe Clowns today. v.v

Very nice, what are all those bottles in front of the sump/fuge? Is that just a regular incandesent over it?

Its stuff I don't use... bought it all together when I first started to get into saltwater... oh well >_<
The fuge light is just a 50watt grow light I found at Home Depot. That with the lamp was only like 12 bucks :)

It seems like the gravity drain might get stopped up with the thin tube.
it works great.... I just gotta get a quick disconnect ball valve to put in line on the drain hose. It is the diameter hose that pro clear set up for that skimmer so it seems to be working good so far...
And I got the nice branch rocks at Wolf Reef... Not sure if they have any left but it was a heck of a deal when I picked up the pieces I got now :)

do the bioballs serve a purpose?
Probably to help break up the bubbles in the sump to keep them from going into the display?
BTW - Welcome to MAAST, William!! :D

yeah the balls do help break up the bubbles (no mirco bubbles in the display!) :) they work pretty good other than migrating around the sump <_<

Well its been a month almost to the day, so I decided to take some pictures today. I've picked up a few things to help give the bare tank some color and I'm lovin' it. I changed my halide bulb to a 250w XM 10k and it looks a lot nicer than the generic Plus bulb I had in there. The stand is still not complete :wacko but I do have the side panels and trim work done, just need to put the final coat of paint on them. (back pain is limiting me doing that today >_< )

looking good man, jade was selling that nice bubble pretty cheap. I would have jumped on it if I only lived closer. Your tank is looking good, keep up the good work.
