Ok so my lights went out and my 10g was dark from Friday night until this morning. I've got temp lights on them right now and they are twice as much light as I had before. ANYWAY.... I don't know if the lighting situation has anything to do with it but my feather duster is out of it's tube. It's stuck itself under a rock with it's feathers sticking out. Will it die? :( Should I leave it in the tank or take it out? It's only 10g so I really don't want anything to be dead in there for too long. :sick

That happens when the water conditions arent good or something pulls them out. They grow a new tube if the right conditions are given. Light has nothing to do, since they are not depends on it to live, they are filter feeders..

Could not enough food be a reason? I really try to limit the amount of food I put in.

What are you feeding it?

nothing. There is only one firefish in the tank right now so I only put in what the fish will eat. Just thought maybe there wasn't enough leftover stuff floating around.

They dont eat what fish eat, they eat phytoplankton, they are filter feeders. You might want to buy some DT's. Hope this helps..

PH could have been an issue too with the lights being off that long

He was out hiding under the rockwork til about 3 days ago when he crawled back into his old tube. Seems happy again. Just glad he didn't die.
