A couple days ao I noticed that these little bumps popped up on my hand. They're pretty small, about the size of an ant. They started iching and spread a little bit my ring finger(they started on my pinky). These things ich like crazy and it looks like they are about to hit my middle finger. Is this anything to worry about? I figure its from my tank since I only put my left hand in it and it just seems logical. Does anybody know what they might be?

STD's???
Saltwater transmitted diseases....
Just dont touch your junk with that hand, and you might be ok.

Some sponges can sting and cause that, so can bristle worms and water borne nematocysts from a carpet anemone. Its probably to late to stop it, but, running as hot a water over your hand that you can stand will decrease it and a benedryl creme will stop the itch. You should use gloves when digging around, moving rocks or thinning thick macro. There's tons of little bristle worms in clumps of macro and under rocks. They'll sting you good. (Use gloves because some things are as allergic to you as you are to them.)

Not looking to scare you, but read this (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=414029&highlight=dont+s tick+your+hand+in+the+tank+thread) for information just in case.

I know there's some pretty nasty bacteria in our tanks. This is the first time that anything has happened, thankfully its not real bad. Im always sure to wash them but I guess its not always enough. Maybe I should get some of those shoulder length gloves...

It may just be coincidence. I'd keep them washed and use the benedryl. If it is your dominant hand, you touch just about everything with it and may have touch a plant, or something else irritating and not noticed.

Gloves would be a good idea though.

Man Pete, I just ate! :sick
Kind of scary. I think I end up reading the article within that link once a quarter or so.
I'm still a stupid head that doesn't wear gloves.
I've had red bumps that iched before and they went away after a week or so.
Keep an eye on them Aaron. I'm sure you have medical coverage and use it if you see any changes.
I always look out for "the red streaks".
I've also had bumps on the upper inside of my arm from reaching in to the tank and it rubbing on the top aquarium edge.

Haven't read the link yet, but plan to. I haven't had any problems in the past with handling things in my tank other than an open brain that would make my arm go numb for awhile. While breaking down my 75g I did have a scare while removing some live rock. I think I was pulling some zoos off of a rock and one popped, squirting a liquid at my face into my right eye. It didn't bother me then, but my eye has been irritated the past few days. Hopefully it will go away! It is amazing the stuff that lives in our tanks that we never see. I left some live rock from the tank sitting outside in a tub to dry out (clean off sponge and other junk). After two days I went to wash it off and found a large crab and some kind of worm that was over a foot long! I think I'll wear my gloves more often now! :blink
