Man today is my first day off in almost a month and so figured I would mess with the tank a bit. I had a old PM skimmer that I had used on a 55g tank that was maybe 18" tall and 4" dia. so figured would try and make something out of it since I was bored. Now understand I didnt have any acrylic parts so found some PVC fittings that I adapted to fit somewhat. I dont have any intention on using this skimmer but was just playing around and experimenting with what would work. I added 4" PVC to the skimmer to give a reaction tube overall height of 31", and added a PVC tee for a pump to drive the venturi. So now a little mag 5 pump feeds the skimmer and a mag 7 drives the venturi sucking water from the top of the skimmer and shoving it in the middle with a internal 90 pointing up so its kinda a counter-current venturi skimmer? Anyway after about 2 hrs of operation the thing started pushing out gunk so somehow it works which I honestly didnt expect! some pictures of my junk:

Thats neat and just goes to show that all that fancy acrylic isnt what makes a skimmer skim ;)
