I'm gonna go with the first one being a Pavona Decussata. Maybe someone will chime in and correct me.

My guess on the first is a Pachyseris.

The first can be either Pavona or Pachyseris. Look very similar. The second I am not confident to guess. Not even sure if it would be a colt.

thanks for the quick responses... I'm not so sure about the colt ident, at least it looks nothing like my other colt. I'll look into the care of the Pavona & Pachyseris

thanks again

Pavona are fairly easy but pachyseris are supposed to be fairly hard.

The first one is a Pavona (AKA) cactus coral. The second looks more like a colt coral to me.

I'll looked up "green thingy" and got all the info I need to take care of him. Apparently I should change his oil every 3 months or 3000 miles and If I mow him to short in the summer he could burn.

thanks for the help

Silly people.

No idea on the first one, but from the looks of things it looks quite healthy! Look, it ate your coraline! Oh noez!

The second is a form of colt or coliflower(sp?). Either way, it looks like you'd take care of it the same as you would the similar colt/xenia type corals. Low-moderate lighting, keep water quality high. ;)

they both are doing well... The pavona is new to me but loks very happy and is now high in the tank as they are supposed to need VERY HIGH light. The colt has been with me for awhile now and is in great shape

Here's another guess on the first one.

Merulina ampliata, or something like it.

I did a search for Merulina ampliata and didnt see any pics that look as much like it as the pavona but that dont mean it aint it

thanks

Check this out. Admittedly its shelf coral and not encrusting like yours. But still the appearance is very similar.

its similar but this one seems to have much less patern than the Merulina ampliata. It appears to be completely random. The polyps are really extending at night now that i have it moved up to the light. It appears really "fuzzy" when I check after lights out... very cool

It is most definitely a Pavona. Merulina tend to have more ridges (not flat).

Jade,

I finally figured out what it is! Its the frag I don't have in my tank. Wink wink nudge nudge.

Nice one Gary... I still need to make it over to raid your tank for frags maybe we can get together soon

PS I guess youd just hit this with a hammer to frag it?

I have a cold chisel I use to frag encrusting or massive type corals. Its also handy for splitting pieces of live rock that have zoos or shrooms on it.
