I have recently become a fan of cucumbers-I didn't realize that they came in such a wide veriety of types or colors. I do not know very much about them. I have 2 right now (pink spine and ashy) and they are doing great and are really cool, but I was wondering if there is a limit or any regulations for these animals that I should be aware of. I would like to get more, and if there aren't any problems with having multiples in your tank, then does anyone know where I could get any good ones, privately or even at a store. Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

I like the black and pink as it cleans the sand ... in one end out the other.

Keep away from the sea apples as they can do hrm if they die in your tank.

I never had them but I always heard that all of them pretty much can destroy your water if left in the tank for even an hour after they die and that it is hard to tell if they did die.

Thats why I never tried them. Can't say for sure though you know how Opinions are! Never really read anything on them either except that they clean sand good. GOOD Luck!

All I can say about them! LOL :lol

From what little I know, occasionally cucumbers can egest their stomachs, usually from being stressed. With some cucumbers, the fluids within their stomachs can be very toxic and that is what can do damage to other livestock in your tank. Don't let that scare you away, there are several types that are know to be safe. I would suggest doing some research on the specific ones before you buy them. It's not very often that you find them in the LFS and if you do, it usually the yellow ones or like the one you have now. The online places carry more of them, just have to look around to see who has what.

Check the above site, jon...it gives a fairly wide range of 'cukes, their habits, and whether or not they can eject their internal organs.

BTW - good to hear the Ashy is doing well. ;) I love the zoa frag :D
