I have a 20g with some soft corals and I came home today to find the light not on which is unusual since its on a timer. I unplugged it from the timer and sure enough, it wont kick on. its a retrofit job (in a 20g high plastic hood) with a squarepin 55w 50/50 coralife bulb and an older smartlite custom sea life ballast. the bulb is less than a year old. At this point I am not sure which component is bad; I can put the corals in my mother in law's tank for now if I hhhaaaave to (my 42g cube is already full of corals), but was wondering if anyone had any extra pc fixtures lying around I could borrow or buy or if you have ideas on how I can troubleshoot my light (I'm a girl so keep it simple, no offense to girls out there who like to tinker with mechanical gadgets). If pics would help, I can post. This is verbose enough so I will leave it at that for now...

i've got a 96 watt coralife unit in the for sale forum. other than that i've had retro's just go up for no apparent reason. not much of an electrician though... if its the socket i also have a couple spare sockets i'd sell you for cheap.
