So i have 1" draining into a tidepool and have bio balls, ceramic rings, and a nice bag of carbon with a mag 9.5 return pump. Everything flows very nicely out of my 65gtall but the tidepool makes so much noise!
Anyone know any tips to quiet them down?

I have one also, and it is very noisy. Are you using the Bio Wheel? I do not have one on mine and most of the noice is coming from the bottom tray drain. I am thinking of modifying the bottom tray.
Seal the drain holes,
cut a hole to match 1 inch pvc pipe,
glue the pipe to come out the bottom,
run the new drain pipe to below the water level under the tower?
Any thoughts.

2nd down tray, carbon
3rd down, ceramic media
Bottom tray, nothing

yeah same exact setup hear, but using the bio-wheel due to this tank is for freshwater.

Hmmm.....with bio wheel and still loud? where does the majority of your noise come from. I will probably have deal with that once I lessen the noise from the bottom tray. Is it from the top of the tower, where the water comes into the tower from the tank, or the overflow from the tank. My tank is drilled, however, I have read some DIY forums on quieting down a HOB overflow.

my tank is drilled also, it seems i had the drip plate dripping in the front of the wheel (towards the sump area) when it is supposed to be towards the back, that helped alot i must say.
but, the most sound is when it enters the top of the tidepool, i have alot of filter floss in there too, so im not sure what im going to do about that.
