Missing features (temporary testing)

Over the next couple days you may notice a few features of the site have gone missing.

This is only temporary as I do some testing to rule out issues with our site consuming extensive resources on our server.

It seems to be the forum more than anything... even with so few members online. General browsing has been popping up zombie processes with CPU cycles hitting 40% and sometimes beyond. :blink

Yeah, think probably everytime the page gets a hit one of those zombie processes could be from that applet. I had a little "quick shout" box on a site and it was totally killer on the proc cycles, bandwidth and everything were no problem though. No idea what the cause is, but seems it's pretty common.

Nice.. the chat window isn't the largest problem, but it was creating a few higher % cpu bursts. PS is showing index.php (the forum loads off there) as the main culprit.

I've cut a few options and at the moment it "seems" like it's helped quite a bit... will have to continue tinkering.

It seems we're pretty close to a VPS/semi-dedicated solution being down the road.

Just glad to be able to access the site for now, even if it means a few less special features for awhile. If anyone can figure it out, I know Chris will! 8)
