I was recently at Port A and came across this beautiful jellyfish that looks quite a bit different from the typical that you see there. It was the size of a nickel and was the most beautiful teal blue color with a purple center. Its tentacles were also unusual and the same vivid teal blue.
Here are a few shots and yes, that is a coffee pot I put him in to take the shots. I went and let him go after I took the pics.

Is it even possible or plausible to put a jelly in a home aquaria?

I think the upside down jelly fish can be kept.

It swam just like a jellyfish, so I never thought it could be something different. It was truly unusual and I did think about bringing it back home, but know nothing about keeping them and have too much to loose if thing didn't work out between him and the other tankmates.

A lot of critters go through a jellyfish-like larval stage called a medusa. I don't know that is what it is, but its a possibility.

I had a much closer, personal experience with several jellyfish while wade fishing in Baffin Bay this weekend. I definitely didn't put them in a coffee pot.

Blue Button, Porpita porpita, brought one home several years ago. It dissolved in the tank after a few days.
