Adding Halides

I am adding a 250w DE halide. How long should I leave it on at first? I am going from almost everything has been under a set of T-5s for the past couple weeks.

I start mine at 6hrs and work up to 8 after a month with actinics for about 2-3hrs before, during and after.

have any of you guys tried the window screen method? worked for me.
