Title says it all. I am curious what everyone is feeding their clown fish. Frozen? Flake? And how often are they being fed. I have one true perc in a 30g cube, but havent fed him/her yet since I just got it last night.

I feed Ocean Nutrition flake. You should probably feed somthing else, but these guys love it and have grown huge. I alternate between the formula 1 and 2.

Why do you say "You should probably feed something else".

I think that most people will tell you that they need a variety including things other than flake food.

I like to give mine some variety. So far they'll eat mysis, frozen Formula II, squid (small pieces), flake (several different varieties), Brine Shrimp Plus, spirulina (sp?), and even cyclopeeze (frozen). Actually, I'd say they'll eat darn near anything except the nori I stick in the tank for the tangs. ;)

The more of a variety you give them, the healthier they will be.

My clowns are pigs!!! They eat flake food, and frozen squid one day, mysid and brine the next. They are always happily dancing for me every time I feed them.

Don't you just love that? They are like little puppy dogs - wagging tails and all :wub

And if your hand goes into the territory they are hosting, they treat you like the mail man and let you have it!

Mine love frozen Mysis, Formula I & II flakes, Prime Reef flakes - don't give them frozen brine very much - they love everything except nori. They remind me of hushpuppies! :wub

Oh man I am loving this fish. I stopped and picked up some formula I, formula II, and Prime Reef Flakes after work yesterday. I was so excited to see that my perc out of my hand as soon as I put my fingers in the tank. He/she also seems to be hosting some of my frogspawn and torch corals, it looks so cool. I think I need to get him/her a buddy. It is about 2.5" long, so should I get one that is significantly smaller or the same size??? I just want it to have a friend other than the watchman goby I have. Thanks to everyone for chiming in.

Heh, I finally got my girlfriend to go to a fish store with me and she made me buy a percula pair. My tank is not ready yet so Felipe is holding them for me, he put them in a side tank and told me to take as long as I need. My girlfriend wanted them because one of them looked just like a movie star (can you guess who). It has bright bright orange and very little of the black, the other larger one (female?) had some black on the side.

I have always liked clowns too, very active and not shy at all. I had one in Hawaii that only ate flake food and did ok, when I left I returned it to a fish store. The one I had when I lived in San Diego ate flake food also and avoided the anenome I put in its tank, I returned both to the local fish store when I moved.

Flake and Nori. Mostly Nori. My Yellow Tang and Red-and-Blue-dot Goby love it too.
