Who offers the best quality/prices for some ocellaris clowns in the Austin area. Ill be looking at getting a small pair in a week or 2 when my cycle finishes and wanted to start scouting them out. Thanks.

Wherever you get them, and since you are just starting, i would recommend you get Tank bred clowns, wild caught clowns drag along many problems that you do not want to deal with, talk to Wendy (CD), she might be able to tell you were its a good place to find healthy clowns..

ORA farms has good healthy fish, but they are often misbarred and over breed. If you just want a healthy pair you can get ORA clowns from PetSmart but make sure you take them before they start to acclimate to the store tanks. Gallery of Pets also carries ORA clowns, but if you want some awesome Maroons check with Instar.

Pair? I have had good luck purchasing 2 clowns and acclimating together for longer than necessary before adding to the tank.

Gallery of Pets also carries ORA clowns,

I'd get them from Cathy at Gallery of Pets. She only gets her fish from ORA and they are always healthy. She can special order you mated pairs too (if you want). ;)

ORA seems to have perpetual brookynella problems. Its common enough with clowns but theirs always seem to have it when they come in. Clowns are only slightly more difficult than damsels so I don't usually worry where they came from.

Pairing them is virtually guaranteed, so its not neccessary to pay extra for a mated pair. It must be nice to be able to change sex, right?

I guess Ill give Cathy a call and place my order for the 2 clowns I want. Hopefully she will hold them for a week or so once they come in so I can observe them for signs of the disease before purchase.

Above is the info for Gallery of Pets. Cathy will help you out. I've seen clowns in their store many times, and have never noticed any having brooklynella...and I generally look *real* close. We've bought a couple of fish from there and have never had health problems with them. You will still want to QT them though...as you would any new fish you buy. PM me if you have any questions.
