If thats something that would be considered reef safe I'd be very interested... I cant find info on the care of this star... is it the same as any other linkia?

well... the limited info i can find on this says its reef safe and will stay under 5"-6". I can't find anything about feeding, but I assume it feeds off of the LR and LS

any additional info would be great...

I would think that they are the same as other linkia. hard to acclimate but once they are in and make it past the first month they should be fine.

I have a green L.multiflora I've had for going on 2.5 years now. My burgundy linckia/tamaria dissapeared about a year ago but the green one just keeps chugging along. They are about the hardiest of the Linckia spp. I have been told and personal experience seems to back this up. I have the same size tank as you steve but you probably have more water volume and rock so I bet it would do fine in your system.

FWIW, I've got one that's been fine in the reef. Crawls over the star polyps, mushrooms, zoos and leathers but doesn't do any damaging munching. He's reproduced by dropping a couple of legs. Was a hitch hiker on something I bought from CB. Didn't get any special treatment for aclimation, so it might be hardier than other species. It's very active. This one moves around alot, the legs move about the speed my coral grows. This is an outdated photo, cause the two short legs have grown a fair amount.

Did the other 2 legs grow to be new starfish?

Yes actually. I got a somewhat decent photo a while back. I had no idea they did that at the time:

Steve, just a FYI I was at Aquatek yesterday and they had a bunch of these linckia in - same coloration etc. And I think most of them are about 20 bucks too but you might want to call the store.

I had a bunch of these in hawaii. They are much hardier than other linkias and when i first started this hobby i didnt know anything about drip acclimation so I just threw them him into my tank and he did fine for over a year. Then i decided I wanted a harlequin shrimp and it got eaten.
