Hello, just by chance I came across this lil crab while viewing my 10g and do not ask how I actually caught it without taking apart the tank lol

Any ideas on a sp. ID, other than most probably a Grapsid sp.? Sorry about the pic quality. Crab is fuzzy all over with 8 red, banded legs (no waders), two red-tipped claws, and trapezoidal carapace with red markings.

Looks like one of those hairy mean crabs. I had one and I just took it out, I did not want to take any chances. To be quite honest I am not even sure if they are harmful or not.

Check its claws, if theyre serrated like a steak knife, its most likely a bad crab, if the tips come to a point with little pads on them, most likely an omnivour/algae eater. Although, from that picture, looking at its aggressive posture, Id say its most likely a bad crab. Let us know!

It more than likely is an unwanted crab, I'm just curious if anyone knew the exact sp. on it lol

Not really sure what to do with it? Anyone want to trade this extremely "rare" hitchhiker for some Acans? lmao!

Do you have any idea what it hitch-hiked in on? That will help me in my search for a name.

Yeah, take that bad boy out and grill it up!
