My yellow leather has been doing well in my tank since I put him in two months ago. All water parameters are good and other tank denizens are doing fine. About a week ago all the polyps retracted, have not been out since, and the leather does not expand at all. There are splotches of BRIGHT greenish-yellow. The splotches can be blown off with turkey baster. I blow them off and they just come back. I have moved a powerhead to give it more than usual flow. It is not melting or disintegrating, it is just doing nothing except growing these splotches.
Any ideas before it goes to Yellow Leather heaven?
Thanks,
John

I read something about a parasite that is particular to the yellow species. Let me see if I can find it. I think its a snail or a cowrie.
Check this out.

hmmm..because leathers often "shrink" and dont open up in a few days..they shed a white, clear skin..Ill research about what you are talking about though..

mine (devils hand) did the same thing. Hes a brownish color but when hes "sheding" he gets a greenish tint then he sheds a layer and goes back to normal

All of my leathers do that, ususally about 1 time, every 2 months or so.
I t is normal. I have noticed that when they shed that layer of skin almost, that they swell up even larger. Like it hit a growth spurt or something. I wouldn't worry about it at all.
