I can be done as long as the drill is centered with the original hole, and the tank is secure. That is what I had to do when I drilled my tank. Iwent from 1/2'' to 3/4''. It seemed difficult at first but when you get right down to it, it realy isn't that hard and only takes about 3-5 minutes of acutal drilling. Becareful always have some support on the opposite side of the hole, so it won't crack when you get close to the end. This way it will give a clean cut on both sides. Also keep the drill lubricated at all times, first so it won't lock the drill up cause the glass to crack, second it will definately extend the tool life of the drill. What size are you going from, and what size are you going to? Another thing after you get the hole started, kind of give a SLIGHT rocking motion, this will give you more of a gurantee that the drill will not grab when close to the end. Hope this info is usefull.

I'm looking to go from a 3/4 inch bulkhead to a 1.5 inch for a closed loop. I was going to have someone else do it though, I don't have the equipment.

dont you have to have a pilot hole to do that? With the hole there already, I would think that woud be hard.....

You can drill a tank with a hole. We did 5 last week, went from a 1/2" to a 3" hole. We just made a wood template and it worked like a charm. We can drill it for you...

Guess we left right before that took place. I saw the tanks and the hole saw but didn't really click that you were about to be enlarging holes.
Wish we had stayed to see that.

Cliff - It's no big deal. Using a hole saw you just make the new hole with the old one in the center. I messed up on my 240g and drilled 1.5in. holes and needed 1.75in. I made a wood jig to keep the hole saw centered over the old hole and it worked really well, just have to let the cutter do it's job and not apply too much pressure.

Felipe and I drilled a few and it was pretty easy. Just go slooow and keep putting water on it. We didnt even have support on the other side of the glass or we didnt center the big hole over the smaller hole...it still worked. we were 5 for 5
