I tested my 55g today, results as follows:
PH- 8.7
DKH- 9
SG- 1.021
Calcium- 440
Will the PH being that high cause any major problems, and if so, how can it be ajusted without throwing everything else off? I have a PH monitor, and double checked it with a manual test kit. Any tips/suggestions are welcome. Thank in advance.

Your salinity seems a little low to me. I would bring the salinity up & recheck it then. What kinda salt do you use. Oceanic seems to run low to me. So If you have any of it , I would try that.

I would get your salinity up to atleast 1.025 then check the others. I've never had a PH reading that high. I'd shoot for a higher dKH too or around 12. But don't do anything until you SLOWLY raise your salinity.

My best guess is a problem with your test kit. 8.7 would be really hard to do with that DKH and SG unless you are using a LOT of Kalk.

Thanks for all the info.
Gary, I just thought of something... I blasted 4 or 5 of my biggest aptasia with some kalkwasser yesterday... would that have done it?

Yeppers.
It'll come down on its own. I guess you really used a lot of Kalk. Those guys should be really dead.
