So these guys are supposed to dig around and live in the sand right? The cucumbers I have in my tank just hide behind my skimmer overflow box. Unless they come out LATE at night I dont see them doing much of anything.

Do they really dig around in the sand and do good things to it or eat the good things in the sand?

Like Joshua said ... my pink and black one is like a filter it goes in one end and out the other. What type of cucumber is it that you have? I used to have the greenish one with feathery tentacles that would pearch on the rock and just stay put grabbing food from the water column.

Call me crazy but I think that the pink one that I got from Blake ate a ricordia! It took a few days but after the cuke moved away the ric was gone.

Not sure what the species is but I've had a black knobby cuke for 3 years now. Does and awesome job keeping the sand clean. The planktivore types (thinking like the yellow mini cukes) generally have abbreviated lifespans.

Abbreviated because most people don't feed them phyto or rotifers.
