Spa flex glue

I'm going to be using a lot of spa flex tubing for the plumbing on my 240g and noticed some places sell a specific glue for it. Is this necessary or can regular PVC cement be used?

I used PVC cement when I was assembling my skimmer's plumbing..It hasnt leaked or anything...the tubing is still in place..
