Okay, so we're ready to start mixing our salt water in a 35 gal trash bin. Can our powerhead *really* be submerged completed in the water??? I'm a little nervous about sticking an electric cord into a big trash bin full of water. :blush

Thank you :)

Yes, the motor is sealed. I would have been dead a few times over if it wasn't.

I have gotten a little shock from a particular brand of pumps that is bad about the seals but that was probably my fault. The key thing is to never pick the pump up by the power cord. That will the seal to leak and cause some stray current to escape.

LOL yes we're still alive. I've been really sick all week, so sorry it took so long to respond. Were ya scared??? ;)

The water mixing went well, and we now have a tank full of sand and water. (We drive our 6 yr old crazy by saying, "oohh, look at the fish! Aren't they pretty??" haha... she thinks we're nuts) I think we're going to toss in a shrimpy and go ahead and start our cycle without any LR for now. It's been neat just to watch the tank go from muddy sand water to clear. We've been taking pictures - maybe we'll put up a picture diary or our adventure one day :)
