Since the "guest" folks here can't access our lounge forum, and I see about 27+ of you guys and gals logged onto MAAST here lately, I figured this would be as good a forum as any to say *Welcome To MAAST*!! :w00t Don't be shy! Sign in, chat, and share in our addictions to reefkeeping!
OK, so here's your chance to say HOWDY...... :ph34r

hehe, I don't think guests can post here though.

LOL - I *knew* that! Perhaps I should've said "sign up" or "log in"? Just tryin' to knock the lurkers out of the rafters and get them to chat with us ;)

Often times a number of those "guests" happen to be googlebots or other spiders indexing our site. It's a bit annoying but if I block them we might not be so easy to find through search engines. :blush

This list (http://www.maast.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewonline) is a bit more accurate. :D

Hello MAASTians or is it MAASTards, I'm Donnie from Texas City, I'm in MARSH club and I lurk here occasionally to broaden my contact w/fellow reefers! I have 5 tanks set up currently and plans for upgrading!

Come over and Lurk @ MARSH sometimes if you like!

I just started lurking here too :) I am a fellow MARSH person and Donnie has a way cool room full of tanks. Amazing what you can do when your wife gives you a whole room to use for tanks :)

Sometimes the guests are simply users like myself that aren't logged it automatically but are watching the for sale or some other open forum.....

Hello! We're SW newbies up in Round Rock - just bought most of our equipment last weekend and our online order should be in tomorrow. Hoping to throw things together this weekend. :o We were SO excited to find some sand here yesterday from Ed and we look forward to hanging around these parts. Good stuff to have a board full of people from the same general area!

:D

Hi Danny and Melissa. What all did you buy for your first order and what type of tank/system do you have?

Well we would like to do a FOWLR tank. Here's our list of stuff that we've gotten:

55 gal aquarium
stand (duh)
AquaClear 110 filter
Berlin Airlift 60 protein skimmer
120 lbs YardRight sand
250 watt heater for tank
100 watt heater for water mixing
Azoo air pump 5500 (for skimmer)
2 AquaClear Powerheads (one model 20 and one model 50 - one for tank, one for mixing)
water tester kit
hydrometer
thermometer

I think that's everything... our tank also came with a Top Fin power filter 60, which we may use for a QT tank or something one day. We figured it's not good enough for this tank, though. We want to get some live rock, and we haven't figured out if we will cycle the tank first and then put the rock in, or try to get some rock first. We've dumped a lot of cash into this in a short time, so the cost of the rock is a little prohibitive right this second and we're anxious to get started :) But we might even go ahead and get around 35 lbs of base rock to at least have something in there, and then put some live rock in a little later. I'm afraid of killing off any hitchhikers we might get if we throw the live rock in at the very beginning of the cycle. :(

So, we've been doing a ton of reading and we think we at least know halfway what we're getting into! ;) I'm sure we'll have lots of questions along the way, though. Thanks for the warm welcome! We're excited about our new hobby :D
