I am getting ready to set my 150 gallon tall and have a question about what powerhead(s) to use. I would really like to use a Tunze Stream, but the smallest one that is available is for 250+ gallon. Does anyone see a reason i couldn't use one? The tank is 4' long and i was just planning on putting one on one side of the tank. Any advice is appreciated.

What about one of these?

Thanks Guys, I was looking at the Seio's also. Look like a good pump. And as far as putting on the bottom facing up, I am going with a DSB and don't think that is an option?
Mike, That is the one i was looking at. It says 250-800 Gallon. But i think that will be ok with just one.

Thanks for the input ya'll.

I know, I am just so used to the DSB and have never had problems, i just don't want to change, lol. And i know what you mean about the rating of them.

Thanks again,

I run a Tunze stream on my 80 gallon, and I am considering running two. The acropora love them! All of the corals do great. I would advise two streams one on each side.

P.S. I am running the 6060 with a DSB no problems. You just have to get the right angle for your tank, but once you get it in place look out coral growth!

Great. One more question. Since you are running the Streams, Do you use the magnetic holder? I saw those and would need them i think. The tank is acrylic with a 3-4" top brace.

Thanks,

I have one clipped on and the other is just sitting in the rock work. I turn the bracket all the way down from the bottom and it is held in place by rock.

Tim, the Prem Aqua link Mike provided has a customer review which states,

"Wow! This pump is so quiet that I literally cannot hear it running, and so powerful that I have to point it at the aquarium wall to calm down the water flow. This one is not adjustable, so for wave-making you need the 6010 kit that comes with the variable-speed 6000 pump. Great, now I have to buy that one, too! :&#41"

Did you experience this too?

problem with the Seios is that you constantly have to soak them in vinegar to keep them running. There are a ton of threads on RC about those.

Thanks Alex. I wondered if they had that problem.

Well, i was looking into the Tunze more and realized that the 6060 is not rated to 250-800 Gallons. lol, that's Liters. It is actually rated for 66 - 211 gallon tanks. It looks like i may get 2 of them afterall. :)

you got to remember though the 6060 or 6080 can not be used with thier controller so if you get the new 6100 or 6200 you can use the controller and have more random water movement.

6200 is insane water flow, way too big for that tank. You can also control a 6000, which can be upgraded to a 6100 later by switching the transformer.

Sounds like some good options. Do i need the tunze controller to control the 6000? Or can i add it later? The 6000 looks like the way to go.

i think you can run it without the controller, but dont hold me to that. Those are the best pumps ever made!!!
