Okay got my tank, finished building stand and canopy, now thinking about plumbing so on. My thought for this tank is a pretty basic, softy tank. Mostly Rics/Zoos. I plan on using T5 lighting, I'm guessing two 36" tubes will be plenty. Will use sump that will house accessories and refugium.

For plumbing, my plan was to have all my flow from the return pump, thus want to break the return off with two loc lines going to each side for circulation. This could be down in the overflow at top where it goes to locline, or can break off other piece from return and plumb to go up side and over back. I guess my biggest question is what pump do I need to achieve this with best efficiency.

Also had another question, has anyone ever used the overlow and return, both as overflows? That way you can plumb the return for each side?

I really want to achieve the flow needed to keep stuff heathly, but nothing cluttering the tank.

Anyone have 58 setups? pics?

Longhorn;

I'm not sure if I understand your plumbing questions, but you might consider the "calfo return manifold" for your returns or a closed loop. Do a search, you'll find some info; it's in his book, too. You can get excellent flow characterisitcs with almost no visible plumbing if you have a canopy. You'll want to push 1500 gph minimum around the tank; probably it's best if not all that goes through the sump.

Man, that stand is packed. Looks like what was under the hood of my 67 Mustang. Not a lot of spare room in there.

What size return pump is good for this tank?

I guess it would depend on what the overflow can handle, anyone have an idea?
