Do think that a 1.5" bulkhead can handle an iwaki 40rlxt rated at 1200gph? I don't think it will be pushing that much, more like 1000gph. What do you think? I'm in the middle of plumbing up a new tank and don't feel like drilling any more holes. tank is going to be a 180.

I think it will be fine. I can tell you one of my 1" drain will handle about that flow(genx mak4<1190gph>) when it is completely submerged(siphoning). You'll be better off keeping your drain lines as straight as possible and if you have to use elbo's, use 2 45's instead of a 90's.

just make sure to keep your snails out of the plumbing.
