my elegance coral looks bad today. ive had it for about three months and it seems to have been doing well. but this morning it did not look so good. i figured it was just a bad time of day for it and that it would bounce back, but now it seems to be receding more and some of its plates are showing. my levels and temp are fine and no other coral seems to be effected. i did a H20 change just to be sure and tried cleaning its surface with some current but it hasnt seemed to help. any advice? i realy dont want to lose this peice i like it alot.

Who sold it to you? Elegance rarely survive long term in a reef tank. If it was to last a year you would have been doing extremely well. These should only be attempted by an expert... They rank right up there with the goniopora, (flower pot), as far as ease of keeping. Most books claim they are easy to keep, but I have not experienced this.

They "used" to be relatively easy to keep, but within the last five or so years due to collection and shipping procedures, they are next to impossible even for the experts. Too bad to, they are beautifull animals.
