I still can't believe it...been waiting so long for my 240g.
We went to pick it up from the shipping company here in town. It arrived yesterday morning, everything seemed fine. I rented a u-haul and picked up a few guys. We get there and I notice a couple of fork lift drivers buzzing around the wherehouse like they were race car drivers. Anyway here comes my package ( its huge ) a 240g glass tank and a 30" OAK stand. The driver was about to put the whole thing in the u-haul without me looking at it when I said to him that I would prefer to inspect it outside. His reponse was " its okay nothing happened to it" can you say RED FLAG! Upon looking closer we noticed a clear impact mark on the side of the huge box. So I had the driver pull the whole thing out and guess what....yep the whole tank was destroyed, shatterd, whatever.
If I would have signed for it without looking I would of been SOL, I guess that was what the driver wanted.
I called the company that built the tank ( glasscages.com ) and told them what happened and they just got of the phone with the shipping comany so they already knew everything...well so they thought, it seems that shipping comany told them that there was no evidence of damage on the outside of the box which is a flat out lie!
Tom @ glasscages has already started on my replacement so another 3 weeks to wait.
BTW other than the obvious, that tank was awesome...the low iron glass looked almost pure white!

insured? well since I did not sign for it, it is up the the shipping company and glasscages to decide who takes the loss...the new tank that is being built is now the one for me.

Some people want a free ride and not have to own up to their mistakes, what a crock! Glad to hear you caught him on it!
And wow, I can't wait to see your tank when it's setup!

Ditto. A 240 sounds awesome.
I was doing the math on the 4 x 4 x 24inch tank, thats 250 gallons or so. A friend asked me about a 6ft x 6ft x 24 inch tank and I told him he was nuts. 562 gallons or so. Imagine if you dropped something right in the middle...

What is it with forklift drivers lately? Do they not train them any more. I got a new tool box a few weeks again. When it showed up at the shop there was a hole in the side of the box. I open up the box and sure enough, a big dent in it. Another guy at work got a part that was almost completly folded in half by a fork lift running through the packageing. That sucks about your tank. I know how it is to wait forever for something you want and then you have to do it all over again.

I'm so sorry Don,
I went through the same experience, I just received my tank and went to pick it up from the same place. Those guys think they are on Alamo dragway. I checked my tank before signing, but luckily mine was fine. And your right, the tank is built very solid and the low iron glass is very clear. It will be worth the wait.

That really sucks, good thing you were suspicious! I had to wait an extra 3 weeks for my corner tank when the made it wrong the first time ... the next three weeks won't be much fun but it will be worth it!
Hope the next one comes in fewer "Pieces"

I went to the glasscages website and their tanks look nice. Makes me want to custom design a corner model when I retire from the service.
More than happy to hook you up with some live sand for your tank when it does come in. Call it a Tankwarming party!

Yes & No ... They made it EXACTLY to my drawing specs! However, the last time they "attempted" they said the dimensions needed to be a little different, so I adjusted the size of the stand I made. So this time, they DIDN'T change the dimensions :x
The stand is off about 1 inch (too big) in the front, but nothing a little wood trim can't fix, right ~Pete~? ;)
