I have an idea about how to put my returns when I connect my fuge to my tank. Tell me what y'all think. For the most part I have seen them blowing from back to front, pointed at differant angles. When I connect everything I will have my return pump connected to a SCWD. Now I was thinking of taking one outlet of the SCWD and setting it on the right side of the tank and the other on the right side of the tank, both facing to the center pointing towards each other. That way I would get a current blowing right to left, the when the SCWD switches over the flow would go left to right. Do you guess this would be a good idea, Im kinda wondering if it would create too much turbualnce at the surface and slosh all of the water out of my tank. Im sure Im not the first one to think this idea up, so maybe one of y'all have tried it.

Thanks,
Mike

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Reefer had 2 tunze streams that were on different sides of the tank pointing at each other. They would alternate back and forth. Looked like a pretty effective way to get a turbulent water mix.

How big is your tank?
What size pump are you going to use?

I am setting up a 110 and I am going to use a Iwaki 30RLXT on a closed loop with a SQWD, but I am wating for the 1" version. I kinda wish it was more flow, but I got the pump for $60.

It'd pretty much be just like the tidal surge zone, where many of our fish are found in the wild. As long as the switching time is not too fast, I think the effect would look good. Too fast a switch, or too small a tank, and you may get a lot more splashing and salt creep.

I have a nano 10 gallon. I will be using either a Pan World 30 PX or 40 PX. The GPH are 258 and 480. If I go with the 40 I will use a ball valve to cut back on the flow some.
