I was told today that Houston Home Depot stores may still carry Southdown sand, and as I need about 200+lbs I would like to confirm this before driving 3 hours. I called a couple of stores but the brainiacs on the other end didnt know Southdown from a hole in the ground.

I REALLY dont want to spend $200 on sand....can anyone help me with my search?

ps. forgive me if I missed a thread regarding where to find Southdown. I did look around for one.

Thanks

I would get some normal sand from home depot clean it fill the tank and then buy some live sand to seed it...

An aquaintance online stopped by two for me and couldnt find it :( I would love to use the cheap Home Depot stuff but dont want to deal with the issues relating to silicate based substrate.
I will probly end up spending the big bucks in town next week for some CaribSea stuff. If anyone knows an alternative please let me know.

If you're in Houston, Global Fish N Pet carry the Pure Aragonite sand at a good price.
