I was looking around in my tank after lights out, and saw this guy crawling around. Anyone have any ideas what is it?

Oh cool - from the picture it looks like a species of olive shell. They are great sand stirrers and the shells are some of the most beautiful of all the snails. They are always shinny when they are healthy and growing. I've picked them up when I was diving and kept them in my reefs. Very enjoyable. Some can get to be 3 and maybe nearly 4 inches long from what I recall of them. No doubt some are small, others maybe larger. Maybe this will help you find it on that link above?

I cant recall the name of the snail but i do recall that it starts with a "C". Yeah i know big help right.
It is beneficiary in a reef tank and theres no need to worry about damage as i havent heard of anyone complaining against them.

Are you thinking Cowrie Estone? I don't think it is, cowries cover their shells with part of their foot don't they?

I just noticed a couple of those in my tank as well. From my research, I was guessing that they were peppermint snails. Here's a link to a website with an ID.
