My movers decided to mess with my bulkhead on hte left drain. It is a 1
" drain, Oceanic. The bulkhead is really loose but I cant get that HUGE nut off to get it out. I bought a pair of channel locks, and it STILL wont move. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this thing off before I throw the channel locks through the tank?

If it’s a plastic nut you might carefully try to cut it off with a dremel tool.

You might want to try one of those strap wrenches that look like oil filter wrenches.

Throwing the channel locks through the tank will work to get the bulkhead off, but probably not the result you want. How about buying a hack saw blade, and using just the blade without the saw to cut it off. If its loose enough to get the saw blade behind the nut I would think it would work pretty good. HTH

Alex,

I might have another 1" bulkhead if you need it fast.

I think im going to get a dremel and try to cut it off. Steve is supposed to come help, and I will run to Alamo first to see if they have one. If not, I will send you a PM Blake, thanks!

Alex, I had this same problem with the 380 and I ended up cutting it with a PVC cutter which is a much much safer way of cutting it. All it is, is a piece of cable. They sell it at Home Depot for $3 bucks.

The cable type PVC cutter is an excelent idea - that would be simple & take about 10 seconds!

It looks like a 2-3' section of small diameter stranded cable with two rubber hoops at each end. If you happen to have some stranded cable laying around, that would work, just wear some gloves! Wrap it around the pipe and drag it back and forth with moderate pressure, it will cut into the back side of the pipe and come through the pipe VERY quickly.
