how big is he???if he's REALLY small, it's prob a species of majano anemones...in that case a pest like aiptasia

That is a Thalassianthus aster. According to Fossa & Nilsen in MCRA vol II, it "...does not have much stinging power..." but "...can multiply so rapidly that it can overgrow large areas in the reef aquarium and really become a plague."
FWIW, I have never have one in my tank.

Minh is correct. I have three in a tank with my spearer mantis. I originally misidentified them as Lebrunia danae species. I started with one and now have three after 6 months - they split pretty fast.
