Hi all. As usual need some help/guidance. My granddaughter has told me (and you know how important that is) that I need a blue fish in my tank. I have been thinking of a Yellow Tail Damsal (based on what I read this is not one of the aggressive ones)
Have sixline wrasse, yellow mimic tang, royal gramma, green/blue chromis, false perc, pajama cardinal, banaggi cardinal, and a sleeper gobie. Its a 70 gal fish/reef tank 6 months old so "blue fish" can't be too big -- any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How old is your granddaughter? Does she mean any blue colored fish or is she wanting you to get "the blue fish" as in Dori from Finding Nemo?

My cousins call my yellow tail damsel 'Dori' Go figure.

She is 9 and yes it is a result of "Dori" -- I told her that a fish like that (I think it was a Tang) might be too big for my tank so she said ok, but you still need a blue fish.
One of the reasons for my thinking of the yellow tail damsal is for what Yano's cousins say. The Allen's damselfish or Blue Damselfish were two other thoughts.

i would think a "small" regal tang would do alright in a 50 gallon for awhile. i have no experience with them so please dont take my word for it but i would think at least for a time until it got too big it would be fine in there.
check out marinedepotlive.com for some ideas(ive never purchased anything from them but they have great pictures of a wide range of fish photos to look at for ideas)

The most beautiful fish in my tank is my Powder Blue Tang (http://store6.yimg.com/I/marinedepotlive_1798_13865639)!
Not sure how it would do in a 55, but I highly recommend this one!

Where can I find a "Allen's damselfish"? ;)

This is where I found them, but still not sure about adding a damsal to my tank.

Thanks everyone for responses thus far -- lots of mixed reviews on adding a damsal to a "community" tank. Really would like a Regal Tang, but afraid it will get too big -- any thoughts on how fast they grow?

Yellow tail blue damsels are great fish. You will nver seen a better blue color on a fish. I nver keep a tank without them. They breed in my tank all the time and is the very first fish I got to spawn in my tank. Too bad, they are so cheap that raising them would not worth the effort. Two or there would be best in a 70 g tank. Here is a picture of mine:
