How about slightly prying the 2 panels apart and using metal piano wire. Should cut right through it.

Razor blades a utility knife and lots of elbow grease, theres no safe magic solution for removing aquarium grade silicone. Sorry. But when you go to re-apply the panes, be sure to rough up the contact points with some Scotch-bright pads or a mild abrasive to assure a good bond. I learned this the hard way.

put it all back together
Now that's gutsy, I'd find someone else to do it just so I could blame them if something went wrong.

I got this tool at walmart for about $2. Worked great when I resealed one of my tanks.

well i went to the good ol depot and they sold me this huge can of methylene. good stuff but stings like hell if it gets on your skin!!! ouch! ive taken a good chunk of the stuff off and it came up rather easily but sine the glass was siliconed to the edging ive had a tough time with gettin the edging off. oh well, guess ill just have to wait till tomorrow to finish up.
thanks for all the suggestions guys!!!
