I've been looking for a way to reduce nitrate in my tank. At this point, I don't want to disturb my setup too much, so I don't want to add more sand or live rock. I would like to add a fuge, but I don't have much room for it. I have some macro algae growing in my overflow after I added the PVC pipe to raise the water level in it, but It does't look like its enough to reduce my nitrates ( I keep getting hair and red slime algae blooms)
I've seen one of those coil denitrification chambers once at aquatek in the used section. I found a bunch of DIY plans for building one on the net. I wanted to see if anyone have used them before. And what are the ideal dimentions and water flow rate for them. Also, do you use any thing to seed it to get it started faster?
