WOW !!!! that is my next step along with a larger tank. Looks great!!!

Can you view it from both sides or is that a reflection?

RobertG
Sat, 10th Apr 2004, 09:12 PM
Yes I can view both sides. The other side is my reefroom. I have all my filtration under the tank. The room is 8 ' X 15' it makes for happy reefing. Along with all my other fish crap as the wife puts it.

I have a 100gal and want to go bigger to get more "floor" space for the rics and zoo's. I have @ 250lbs of rock in the 100.

Cool I have a bunch more rocks to place in the tank. It seems like I have nothing in the tank. I took alot of the rock out of my 115 & threw it on the back porch. It had alot of undesirable algae on it. I thought it would die off & then put the rock back. Well then it rained. I never did anything with it. It has been soaking in SW to hopefully leach out the if any bad stuff. I think it is about ready to enter the tank but I have been doing my other stuff. I will see how much more rock will be needed after it all goes back in. This project took off at a spur of the minute. I told a friend about my thoughts, he then said I have some time if you want to get started. I jumped on that time. We framed it all out then closed it in. Fully insulated, sheetrocked & textured. I painted it all a star spangle blue. Had a electrician friend come in & add 80 AMPS of GFCI protected circuits. These went across the underside of tank stand. The tank came from Aquatrend. It took a total of 3 almost 4 months to complete.

Wait a minute, I dont think it will ever be complete. Anyone beg to differ??

Pete I never thought I would have this size tank. I had to go & see Jims tank. Since then I had wanted to have one of my own. Thanks JIM!!! Your such a good influence.. LOL!! :-D

VERY NICE! We need to do a meeting at your place. The pictures do not do it justice. Roberts fish room is exactly that a room! FInished out walls insulation, air conditioning, the works! He really did a great job, hell put a couch in there and we wouldn't even have to go in the house.

Ok now, that is nice. I'd love to see it. Meeting at your house sounds good to me. (I don't require a couch like Tim does.)

WOW and WOW. LOVE THE SET UP. it's great to go in the back and do what you want and set up what you want. i have a whole bed room just for my tank. stuff all in the room: fuge, skimmer, ro/di, mixing containers, etc. of course it looks good from the front but you spend most of your time in the back. thats where all the fun is.

You can say that again DAN. There is no other way to put it. My time is in the back.

I've seen it in person too and it really is "WOW". I was blown away. The word that came to mind for me was professional. Just a really clean, pro looking setup. The fish room is the best I've personally ever seen in a house...

Hi Robert, nice tank! Do you have a method for cleaning the front glass? And what is the coral at the very end? Is that a large anemone?

Looks like you are using 20,000K bulbs now?

RobertG
Wed, 2nd Jun 2004, 07:52 AM
Thanks Marc, I clean the glass with a MagFloat. Pain if you swing it away from the glass. The coral on the end is a Toadstool Leather ( Large). I am running 10K Bulbs. DE 250W MH (4) I think it is just the way the pic came out.

Robert; it looks terrific, but i think the air is way too high. That's why you're not getting the dense foam in the tube; the bubbles are too big. Start with the air all the off (horizontal) and run the water level about 1/2 to 2/3 the way up the tube. Let it run like that for several minutes to make sure it's steady. Then just crack open the air until the foam tube fills with dense foam, and a nice foam head (think guiness) builds up on top. Maybe about 45o open, but not more than that. You want a nice gentle swirling on top of the water, not a lot of turbulence. I'm going to email you the details. Thanks for posting!
