Just saw this while looking at booster pumps and was wondering if anyone had ever tried anything similar. Basically running both hot and cold to get either temp up for performance issues, or better inlet pressure.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, it is true that the colder the water the slower your unit will work, but you don't need to buy it online, just go to Home Depot and see if they have the Y and buy some extra tubing and hook it up to both the warm and cold water.

Y <-- To Hot Water One Side And Cold The Other Side.

Yeah, basically that's what I was getting at.
I read a really good thread on RC where they tested at different temps to see what rates it would run best at and checked the readings at each. It looked like the best (most efficient) was between the 75 and 80 range. I may play with it and see if I can find a temp gauge that I can put inline so I can only open the hot water as far as needed to get the correct temp. Way overthinking this probably but my water pressure is fairly low so if this helps then so much the better.

I kinda see a couple possible problems.

1...Higher than normal TDS due to the water heater.
2...Depending on how you use your RO, and where its located in your house, and if its on an auto topoff, it might not run long enough to purge the "not so hot anymore" hot water out of the lines....

Id rather use the cold water only due to the normal temp in my tank already being high.

I was wondering about the TDS being higher also from the water heater but most of that stuff should be caught by the pre-filters.
You are right about if using it as auto topoff it would probably never get the benefits from both lines. I'm running mine into water holding containers before getting to the tank.
