My tank is a 55 gal (what I've always called a breeder, deep rather than waide) A long spined urchin has lived in there happily for three years now and at least doubled in size. Best I can tell it's 8" from tip to tip (Tanks, approx 32x16x16.
I'm wondering if it has outgrown my tank?
Any experiance in what it might not be compatible with as I'm trying to move forward with a soft coral reef?

Yes it will outgrow most tanks, i've been looking for one, for my new 375, for algae control. I saw one in my friend's tank that was about foot, and that was just spine length. i don't really if they are reef safe, i had always put them in my FOWR tanks.

I gave that one to Jim after it outgrew my tank, they can be real bulldozers...

I just happen to have the one Jim & Jim used to have. It has been happily living in the 350 gallon outside for a year now. This guy withstands tremendous temperature variations! From 62 to 90 degrees, and still runs like a jack rabbit. You can buy it if you want, for the price of a regular online one.
